2009 Lunar New Year Cup Successes

Hi all,

Its Chinese New Year again and this year the HKFA invited Sparta Prague (Cze) and Suwon Bluewings (Kor) to the Lunar New Year Football Touranment in Hong Kong.

I was hoping to get Patrik Berger, Toms Repka and a couple of other youth player's autographs from Sparta before the match, as well as the autographs of several Korean international, as well as the coach - Cha Bum Kun who's a Korean football legend, arguably the most successful Asian player.

I managed to obtain the autographs of Tomas Repka and Cha Bum Kun only, which was a bit dissopointing as I was hoping, or should I say expecting a bit more.

2008 Olympics - Brazil Football Team Failure

Hi all,

I am in China right now for the olympics, and today I attempted to collect autographs from the Brazilian Olympic National Team in the train station as they traveled to Qinghaundao for the group stages. It was a failure as the players traveled out of the train station in the coach out of the gate for the special guests, meaning that I only got to see the players on the coach and therefore none of them could sign an autograph for me.

I was not very dissapointed as I didn't expect anything from the tight security - and Ronaldinho did wave at me :).

2008 ING Cup - Match Day Two Successes

Hi all,

Today I went to the Second Match Day of the ING Cup again. I managed to obtain Alex Song's (Arsenal) autograph. Having arrived late I was told by other collectors that Song has already signed I was worried that I would miss him. However, after the Cameroon vs USA match, I saw Song resting in the Player's area and with the kind of security you get in the HK Stadium, I managed to sneak into the are and got Song to sign my photos. Song's a really next player, he was chatting to me for a bit and I decided to get him to personalize my photos; which as you can see he did, however he spelt "Gason" instead of "Jason" :P !

That was it though as the other players did not sign for me, I could see Maduro about four meters away and I held up my marker as well as asking him if I can have an autograph, but all he did was wave at me which was a pity to be honest.

I came very close to getting another Makkay, but perhaps Makkay relized he signed for me on the First Day of the tournament therefore ignored me..

2008 ING Cup - Match Day One Successes

Hi all,

I managed to obtain quite a few autographs from players in the Ivory Coast and Holland Olympic team today. The first player that signed from me was Salomon Kaulo (Chelsea), however, it is a pity as his signature is broken up due to the other half being signed the cardboard he was leaning on. The USA olympic team did not stop to sign though. Later on, Royston Drenthe (Real Madrid) stopped and signed for me two after he was sub-ed of in the second half. Hedwiges Maduro (Valencia) signed for too, however, he obvious didn't understand me when I told him to sign on my match ticket, as he ended up signing my cardboard which was for him to lean on whilst signing! After the match between Holland and Cameroon, I managed to obtain the autographs of Ryan Babel (Liverpool) as well as Roy Makkay (ex-Bayern Munich). Sadly, Babel's using an inkless marker.

I hope to obtain more autographs on the second day of the tournament, my top pirority being Alex Song, Ryan Babel (would like a signed photo using a pen with ink) and Hedwiges Maduro (would like a signed photo from him).

2008 Bmp Cash Tournament - Juventus IP Success

Hi all,

Today I met Juventus in the Bmp Cash Touranment. I managed to obtain the autographs of Gianluca Pessotto (ex-Juventus/ Italy Legend), Tiago Mendes and Raffaele Palladino .

Unfortunatly, due to the 2:1 defeat Juventus suffered, a lot of players were not in the mood of signing, which is a pity.

2007 Barcelona Asia Tour - Failure

Hi all,

Today I went to the Barcelona Training Session in the Hong Kong Stadium. I won the training sessions tickets earlier on in a newspaper contest and I had high hopes of getting Ginaluca Zambrotta, a 2006 WC Winner's autograph, however, failed to do so. The fact was that none of the players signed. Very dissapointed but I will send the photos off to Zambrotta's agent to try my luck there.

2007 Luca Toni Hong Kong Visit - Failure

Hi all,

As I am not in Hong Kong for Luca Toni's visit, I got my friend to go to the signing event in attempt to obtain Toni's autograph. However, it was a failure as he did not arrive in time to be the first 20 In line for Toni's autograph.

Disappointed, but it was due to my lack of research and the fact that I did not tell my friend to arrive their early.

2007 Philips Lighting Tournament - Matt Le Tisser IP Success

Today I met the Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier in the Soccer 7's. He was signing autographs for everyone before the match. I managed to obtain 3 autographed index cards from Le God. Very Happy with this!

2007 Philips Lighting Tournament - Mark Randall IP Success
